APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

comprised of 94 townhouses and a co-op office. It was built in two
phases:
Phase One, which includes 86 two,
three and four bedroom homes was built in 1985; and Phase
Two, which includes 8 one bedroom homes was built in 1994.
HOW TO APPLY
PHASE ONE
Applicants for Phase One: Applicants,
may apply directly to our Co-op office at unit 14-1338 Princess
St. from 1-5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, or call (613) 544-3873
and ask to have an application form sent in the mail. Those seeking
housing subsidy should apply through the Social Housing Registry,
or Inquire by phone at 613-531-9875 or 613-546-5591.
About half of our membership in Phase One pay the full housing charge
(rent) and the other half receive a federal housing subsidy. The
basic financial criteria for subsidy eligibility is that your housing
charge should not exceed 30% of your gross (before tax) income.
There is a limited amount of subsidy available, and it is not unusual
for applicants to wait over a year for a vacancy offering subsidy.

through the Sociall Housing Registry at:
(613) 531-9855 or (613) 546-5591
Our one bedroom homes provide housing only for members who qualify
for a municipal housing subsidy. The basic financial criteria for

A maintenance deposit equivalent to one full months' housing charge
which is payable before you move in. This is refunded when you move
out and after the home is inspected minus any damages or charges.
( Note: The co-op is governed under the Co-operative Corporations
Act, not the Tenant Protection Act of Ontario). The first months'
housing charge is payable when you move in; the last months' housing
charge is paid in the last month of your occupancy.
Housing charges
are effective as of May of each year and may rise depending upon
the costs of our vacancies, property tax increases, water, maintenance
and capital replacements.
This is a not-for-profit, providing housing at cost. As co-owners,
we do not pay 'rent'.
The monthly housing charges are decided upon by the co-op members
at al General Members' Meeting.
INTERVIEW
When your application is received, and if we have a vacancy, you
will be asked to come into the co-op for a membership interview.
Our membership committee will have two people to interview you and
your family and provide information about the co-op in order for
you and the co-op to decide if this is the right place for you to
live. If you are selected, and after you move in, you will be assigned
a duty by the Participation Committee, which will try to accomodate
your personal interest or experience. There will also be an orientation
session, which consists of videos and an informal talk by members
about our co-op and co-ops in general. It is a way to get to know
more about your new community and to get to know some of your neighbours.
